Hi every person for using contact lens. R u know about contact lens if no i give u some information if you not mind pls care it. First of what is contact lens.
What are contact lenses?
Contact lenses are small visual devices made with curved pieces of plastic shaped in a way to conform directly to the wearer’s eye. They provide an artificial refracting surface to the human eye and are used to correct vision problems like myopia and hypermetropia. Contact lenses aid in eye focusing in the same manner as spectacles do. Apart from these corrective measures, contact lenses can also be used for cosmetic and therapeutic reasons.
There have been many modifications and improvements to the original idea of contact lenses, conceptualized first by Leonardo Da Vinci, through centuries. About 35 million people in the U.S. wear contact lenses today.
Contact lens type?
Soft contact lenses
Hard contact lenses
Disposable contact lenses
Extended wear contact lenses
Bifocal contact lenses
Contact lenses for astigmatism
Therapeutic contact lenses
What are soft contact lenses?
Soft contact lenses are thin gel-like lenses made from water attracting plastics called hydrogel. They absorb water, become soft and thus easily conform to the shape of your eyeball. However, they don’t come without risks.
When are soft contact lenses used?
They are used for correcting vision problems in refractive eye disorders like near sightedness, far sightedness and some types of astigmatism.
The advantages of soft contact lenses over rigid gas permeable or RGP lenses are:
They are more flexible and comfortable.
They are easier and quicker to adjust.
The chances of particles getting under the lens are less.
They rarely fall off and are easier to insert.
What are hard contact lenses?
Hard contact lenses are made from rigid materials like glass and plastics. The earlier types are rarely prescribed now, though they had several advantages. They were easy to wear and remove and easy to maintain. They were durable and cheap. Today the lenses made from rigid gas permeable materials are practically the only hard lenses available.
Disposable contact lenses.
The concept of disposable contact lenses and their introduction in the later part of the 80’s was a path breaking one. Earlier the contact lenses were used through the years until the lenses were either lost or damaged or became intolerable. After these ‘marathon’ contact lenses came the yearly replacement lenses as an improvement and once the benefits of these were noticed, the next stage was the development of lenses with shorter replacement intervals i.e. frequent or planned replacement or disposable lenses.
